Geolog

The balance and harmony of the opposites

About the project

Blank has developed the architectural concept, interior and landscape design of the GEOLOG multifunctional business center (23 Obruchev St.) by Hutton Development. The project has already been approved by the Moscow Architectural Committee: a 13-storey administrative building with underground parking, open public terraces and all the necessary infrastructure will appear.

01

The Idea

The complex’s architecture is based on the principle of "tectonic shifts": the displacement of parts of the building relative to each other. The idea of the architectural concept of the business center was the work and scientific discoveries of the scientist-geologist, traveler and researcher Vladimir Afanasyevich Obruchev. The main focus of the project in architecture was on the "natural element" in the architectural form. The building seems to be "divided" into 2 parts of different volumes, resembling the shift of tectonic plates. By identifying the compositional angle, the ground part of the object is accentuated.

02

Open spaces and multifunction

As part of the project, which has already been approved by the Moscow Committee for Architecture, a 13-storey office building with underground parking, open public terraces and all the necessary infrastructure will appear. The building will be organically integrated into the existing landscape. The design of the facades uses white and gray panels. The area of facade glazing increases depending on the height of the floor, opening up unique views to the users of the facility.

03

Open terraces and filling

The principle of open spaces in the offices is implemented with the help of viewing terraces designed at the level of the upper floors. Architectural lighting emphasizes the structure of the building and makes it especially spectacular in the evening. An important design element of the common areas is a spiral staircase that leads visitors to a mezzanine with a business lounge that can be booked for a meeting or as a flexible, isolated workplace.
