Chkalov Mall
New point of attraction

About
The shopping center, which is part of a residential complex, is located in Moscow - at the square near the Kurskaya railway station. It consists of four above-ground levels of retail space and four underground levels of parking. The functional zoning is as follows: the 1st floor will feature restaurants and small shops selling souvenirs and flowers, with a line of open storefronts; the 2nd and 3rd floors will host boutiques; the 4th floor will be dedicated to our unique food court and restaurants with open bars, named "Food Plaza." All floors are connected by a circular atrium with a transparent roof.

Idea
The main mood of the design concept is AWARENESS. Our goal was to create a comfortable atmosphere filled with light in a shopping center located almost in the center of Moscow. Therefore, the main idea of the design concept is light that penetrates through the main transparent roof of the atrium and dissolves into the shopping galleries. This is emphasized by a gradient that transitions into the details of the atrium space, floor patterns, and all lighting elements. The materials we used evoke natural materials – stone, wood, soft fabrics that are pleasant to the touch.

Wayfinding
The project provides for functional and intuitive navigation media located at key decision-making points for visitors. Thus, visitor flows are evenly distributed both within each of the floors and vertically. The design concept corresponds to the key idea of the interior design: "walking in the clouds". We see the space as located directly above the horizon, where visitors move in a circle. Our task is to awaken their imagination and encourage reflection. A transparent, barely noticeable cloud pattern is present in the interiors of the galleries and in the navigation media. We developed concepts for the design of the main atrium and galleries of the shopping center for 4 seasons: New Year, gift season, summer, autumn. The design emphasizes the airiness and lightness of the project and its interiors.
