Arena Shopping Center

Convenient center in Voronezh

About

The Arena Shopping and Entertainment Center is located in Voronezh, a city with a population of about one million people in the southwestern region of the Russian Federation. It is a regional shopping center on Pobedy Boulevard in a densely populated part of the city, on a corner site that closes the block. The building is highly visible and adds a strong accent to the area. The nearby park is a pleasant addition of outdoor entertainment to the shopping functions of the building. The task was to create a simple and modest building that would be adapted to the needs of the investor and the area. It was important to design a shopping center that would be a place for family recreation, so the right scale, natural light, clear and understandable layouts and functions that would suit each member of the family were needed.

Architecture

The focal point of the shopping centre is a three-storey atrium with terraces that recede from each other to create the impression of an arena. A small stage for events is located on the ground floor. The entire atrium also becomes the entrance area of the building and is clearly visible from the outside through the glass façade. The main façade has a smooth arc shape with a central entrance and atrium, and the protruding “box” of the cinema defines the entertainment function. Simple materials used for the façade finishing, such as steel panels and tiles, are offset by details such as a canopy along the main façade and a glass wall of the main entrance. All this creates the impression of accessibility and a friendly attitude towards the family audience of the shopping centre.
