Trend Island
The Island of the Rising Sun
About the project
Trend Island is a department store located in Moscow in the Aviapark shopping center, one of the largest shopping centers in Europe. The first phase of this fashionable space, built in 2016, has already become a landmark project for the Aviapark shopping center and for Moscow as a whole. Therefore, one of the tasks in developing the design for the second phase was to reinforce the overall concept and brand of the department store. We created a "legend" that the new phase of the project serves as a reflection in a magical mirror of the existing "sunset island" – the second half of the department store becomes the "island of the rising sun."
Idea
"The Island of the Rising Sun" is built on smooth lines and rounded shapes – it appears gentle and toy-like, yet still remains a department store, albeit a somewhat futuristic one. At the center of the composition is a platform framed by an arched rotunda and the "Moon," which is frozen in eternal dawn, with the shoppers' paths laid out as if in its shadow. The shades of sunrise in the interior contrast with the sunset hues of the first phase of the store. The second phase of Trend Island is designed for a large number of women's clothing brands, so it was important for the designers to incorporate softness and fluidity into the interior elements. Design
The department store's space is designed in calm tones: soft pink, dusty lilac, and gentle white (the chameleon material shimmers with various shades of pink, gray, and lilac). Rose gold is also used in the interior, creating a cozy and elegant atmosphere. The central art installation, "Moon," was handmade in shades of dawn and sunrise, with a pop-up area for products located underneath it. The functionality of the space is achieved through thoughtfully selected details and solutions: for instance, the massive columns have become functional objects thanks to the circular rails for clothing around them. Additionally, with the help of lightweight, mobile transforming platforms, retailers can create any total looks composition within the store's space.
