Gagarinsky Mall

Unique shopping and leisure experience.

About

Located on the Third Ring Road of Moscow, in close proximity to Gagarin Square, the shopping center is named after the famous Soviet cosmonaut who was the first to explore space in human history.

01

Architecture

The atmosphere of the shopping center shifts from a modern classic style to an intense, almost eclectic mix of elements and vibrant colors in the atrium. The facades are treated in a dual manner: the 250-meter facade along the Third Transport Ring has taken on an industrial appearance, as it is primarily exposed to traffic. It is designed to align with the speed of passing vehicles and the visual perception of drivers and passengers. Sharp cuts and the division of the building into several volumes using glass inserts give the facade a very tectonic and graphic style. The use of industrial materials, such as steel plates, enhances this effect. The facade of the main entrance gains detail as pedestrians approach; the scale varies to adapt to people's visual perception, while the use of materials like ceramics and stone makes it softer and more inviting.

Idea

The building itself is located in an area that represents a mix of industrial and transportation facilities, as well as dense development with high-rise residential buildings. It has become a link between all these elements, taking its place in this mixed environment. The scale of the building, innovative materials, and design solutions, along with hundreds of boutiques, a hypermarket, restaurants, and cafes, create a new lifestyle center for the area. The final touch is a vibrant three-level atrium with a food court, cafes, youth fashion stores, and a system of moving walkways and escalators, which adds a sense of constant movement.
