Prospect Marshala Zhukova Metro station
Self-sufficient art object
About the project
Working on the design of the station "Prospekt Marshala Zhukova", we were inspired by modern art, which is already integrated into the project environment in the form of murals. One of the tasks was to turn the station into a self-sufficient art object.
The idea
We presented the path from the pavilion to the platform as a passage through the "cloud". Entering the pavilion, the passenger appears as if on the border of the air mass. Descending into the bright air space of the halls in the form of a series of white luminous portals with soft curves of the walls and upper illumination, we pass through the "cloud" – this space is made in a white color.
Interior
Spot lighting on the ceiling serves as an intuitive navigation: approaching the escalator, the passenger sees light reflected from the polished surface of the walls, which softly turns to matte, becoming more muted on the way down to the platform. Once on the platform, we leave the "cloud" behind. For columns and tiles, we offered to choose durable and functional materials-granite in two shades, while the ceiling slats "clouds" are made of metal, and escalators are decorated with stainless steel sheets. The atmosphere of the station is formed by pleasant images and associations due to interior solutions: visual images of clouds, contrast and monochrome tones, earthy shades, etc. Modern architectural and artistic techniques allow the station to form its own identity.
